The Strata set is interesting but the question about who actually manufacturers them puts me off. I think when people are talking about budget beginner sets like this they get a little too tied up in “best value” when really, there’s many reasons to choose one set over another. I know you can get cheaper sets, but the only one that I’d say which is better value and looks like I’d want golf clubs to look is the Callaway Edge set, but for a taller or shorter golfer they aren’t really an option because they’re all standard length.
I think it’s great that there are these options in this price range. I feel like the complaints may be a bit nit-picky to be honest. Headcovers are snug, but they go on fine. I do wish I had the bag to match, but COVID has messed that up for so many of us, and I still have my old one for now. I walked up to the green with my 60 and found it in the cup instead. I thought it rolled off the back as I couldn't see it but hit it so pure. 155 yard straight away par 3, 140 to clear the bunkers, hit at around 148, released and rolled right in. They look great behind the ball, and they're durable even when I duff or hit it fat, they hold up.Īlso, as ridiculous as it sounds, I hit my first ever hole in one, and while I don't equate that to the clubs alone, I do think it helped to be able to get the right flex for me (A Flex), with a stronger loft, and I happened to have tee'd my iron on this particular shot, which I never do. They generate surprising spin, but I wouldn't say they compete on spin with big brands, just surprising by my standards. The irons are solid hitting, and heavy headed. The putter is the best club in the bag IMO, the milled face gives a great natural feel and control, even with cheap balls and on poor greens. But I did notice some great forgiveness and distance when my swing is on but I'm just missing the center. They're great from distance in the rough, and off the tee both.ĭriver has always been a sore spot for me, I'm your standard slicer. I LOVE the more modern, low sitting, woods. I hated the hybrid until the last time I hit it, but I've been struggling with hybrid lately anyway. Granted, I've only hit out of the bunker twice (both times with my 52), but they still look like new. I have had zero issues with the finish, even after cleaning them after each session and inspecting them closely. The clubs deliver on looks, they deliver on performance.

In full disclosure, I believe I was trending in the direction anyway, but I do hope that my Stix can keep me on the other side of 100 from now on. That being said, I shot a PB on my first round with these (103, after a previous PB of 104, not a high bar), then I broke 100 for the first time, and the second time (again adjusted for par 72 at the local executive course).
